Service Provider Profiles

The Service Provider Profiles are reviewed and updated every three to four months, and sometimes more frequently where we are informed of major changes, e.g. pricing updates or new product launches.

The last update date is displayed in the bottom right hand corner of each Service Provider Profile page.

The Service Provider Profiles are completed by Payments Consulting Network, an independent management consulting firm specialising in the payments industry. The information is sourced mainly from secondary research (e.g. company websites, research reports) and supplemented with primary research (e.g. mystery shopping, interviews with company and industry representatives). We also ask service providers to review their profile pages.

Benchmarking Reports

Merchants that already accept POS or ecommerce payments will be able to complete an online survey to enter information about their current payments service provider, then produce a report that compares key metrics with other merchants of a similar size and in a similar industry. 

The following key metrics will be compared:

  • Pricing
    • Total cost per transaction ($)
    • Total cost as a percentage of electronic sales value (%)
  • Qualitative ratings
    • Customer service
    • Features and functionality
    • Ease of implementation.

The above key metrics for the merchant will be compared with averages for all other merchants in the same:

  • Merchant Category Group
  • Monthly electronic sales value category.

Pricing Calculator

The Pricing Calculator enables a merchant to enter their current electronic payment sales value and transaction volumes, and compare the standard pricing of up to four service providers at a time.

The costs for each selected service provider are displayed both graphically and in table form, expressed as two metrics:

  • Total cost per month ($); and
  • Total cost as a percentage of total electronic sales value (%).

About Merchant Pricing Hub

Merchant Pricing Hub is a service fully owned and operated by Payments Consulting Network (ABN: 87 202 769 335), an independent management consulting firm specialising in the payments industry. Payments Consulting Network is privately owned and the company does not have any economic or beneficial interest in any of the Service Providers.

Survey

In order to benchmark the fees and performance of your current POS or Ecommerce payments service provider relative to other merchants with a similar level of sales turnover and in a similar industry, the survey will request the following details about your business:

  • Business name, ABN, postcode and industry;
  • Type of payments facility to be benchmarked - POS or Ecommerce;
  • Number and value of your monthly electronic payments, and for POS, the number of EFTPOS devices;
  • Total monthly fees paid in relation to your payments facility;
  • For your current payments facility, your service provider name and how you rate their customer service, features and functionality, and ease of implementation; and
  • Your likelihood to change your service provider.

The survey should only take 5-10 minutes to complete.

To save time when completing the survey, we suggest you have your most recent or typical monthly fee statement from your current service provider in front of you.


No, the survey is to enable merchants that already have a payments facility to compare their current pricing and service provider performance to other merchants with a similar sales turnover or in a similar industry. Hence, it should not be completed if you do not have an existing payments facility.

If you do not already have a payments facility we suggest you use the Pricing Calculator to compare the pricing of the various service providers and review the Service Provide Profiles section of the website to compare features, functionality and key differentiators.



We will not disclose your individual survey data to third parties.

In order to produce the Benchmarking Report, we will aggregate your survey data with the survey data submitted by other merchants to produce averages by sales turnover categories and industry (i.e. merchant category groups).

How to use this website


For those that have subscribed to an Annual Membership, here is our suggested approach to save you time and help you make the best decision for your business:

  1. Complete the survey to run a Benchmarking Report to understand the service providers that perform the best for your sized business and industry on pricing, service, features and ease of implementation. With and Annual Membership, you can run up to 4 benchmarking reports through out the year as your business changes and we collect more market data to include in the reports.
  2. Use  this information to create a shortlist of 3-5 service providers and then review the Service Provider Profiles to understand their key differentiators, industry specialisation, pricing structures, features and functionality. By now you may be able to shortlist further to 2-3 service providers if not all could provide the features and functionality that your business needs.
  3. Use the Pricing Calculator to see how their fees compare based on your monthly sales volumes. The calculator enables you to compare 4 service provider pricing plans at a time and you can run the calculator as many times as you wish.
  4. With all this information now at hand, select your two preferred payments service providers, make a final check of their websites paying close attention to all the terms and conditions, then contact them for a quote. 
  5. Make a final payments service provider selection decision and sign the contract!


For those that have subscribed to an Single Report, here is our suggested approach to save you time and help you make the best decision for your business:

  1. Complete the survey to run a Benchmarking Report to understand the service providers that perform the best for your sized business and industry on pricing, service, features and ease of implementation. 
  2. Use  this information to create a shortlist of 3-5 service providers and then review their websites paying close attention to the payment methods accepted in the standard pricing, all the features and functionality, and the terms and conditions
  3. Shortlist further to 2-3 service providers then contact them for a quote. 
  4. Make a final payments service provider selection decision and sign the contract!

Review their detailed profiles to understand their key differentiators, industry specialisation, pricing structures, full features and functionality list. By now you may have a shortlist of 3-4 service providers that provide all the features and functionality that your business needs.
  2. Use the Pricing Calculator to see how their fees compare based on your monthly sales volumes. The calculator enables you to compare 4 service provider pricing plans at a time and you can run the calculator as many times as you wish.
  3. With all this information now at hand, select your two preferred payments service providers, make a final check of their websites paying close attention to all the terms and conditions, then contact them for a quote.
